Dr. Jemima A. Dennis-Antwi is an International Consultant with over 29 years’ experience in Nursing and Midwifery, Health Systems Strengthening, programmes and projects planning and implementation and Qualitative Research. She runs the new Center for Health Development and Research (CEHDAR). She is the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) Member of Board of Directors representing Anglophone Africa. Her current interests include research, capacity building of health workforce, Strategic Planning, Nursing and Midwifery (Education, Regulation, Advocacy, Preceptorship and Evaluation of the Paediatric Nursing Education Programme -Ghana Sick-Kids- Canada Partnership) and Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Genomics. She has been involved with several international efforts at midwifery/RMNCAH, nursing and SCD health workforce strengthening including being a member of Technical Working Groups for WHO, ICM, UNFPA and Jhpiego. In Anglophone Africa she has worked with over 10 countries strengthening their midwifery systems based on ICM/WHO/UNFPA policies. In Ghana, she is the current and inaugural President of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (Fellowship College for Postgraduate Specialisation in Nursing and Midwifery) who initiated and led efforts to establish and grow the Fellowship College as a Centre of Academic Excellence. She has also served in other leadership positions for projects and programmes development, health promotion, learning materials development work in the health sector. In 2017, she was invited as the Visiting Scholar to the Yale University School of Nursing, Connecticut-USA. She is also an Ex-Officio Member of the Executive Committee of Global Network-World Health Organization Collaborating Research Centres and Member of Board of Directors of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Ghana. She has had professional geographic experience in over 40 countries globally and presented at several international conferences. She has publications to her credit.
